Eric Messer, Messer is a confirmed bachelor and best friend of Peter Novac. He is the television technical director for the Atlanta Hawks basketball team. When Peter and his wife, Alison are killed in a car accident, he is named as co-guardian of their only daughter, Sophie, along with Alison's best friend, Holly, much to their astonishment.
