Major General George Hammond (Don S. Davis) is the commander of Stargate Command (SGC). He is stationed at the Cheyenne Mountain complex , which is the present-day location of Stargate Command. Hammond calls Colonel O'Neill out of retirement and sends him on the mission to Abydos. He orders O'Neill to bring Captain Carter with him on the mission and assembles the SG-1 team. While he is control of each mission, he does not often the team on their expeditions to other worlds. He is an experienced military leader who will do whatever is necessary to protect his country and the people who serve him.Background: Major General Hammond replaced Major General West who commanded the Stargate Project during its original expedition to Abydos.
